Jeffrey S. Koltenuk's Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jeffrey S. Koltenuk on June 30, 2026 at the age of 79. Born on November 15, 1946 in Brooklyn, N.Y., Jeff lived a life of kindness, humor, dependability, and the greatest love for his family.
Jeff grew up at the Jersey Shore in Bradley Beach, N.J. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1968 and earned a Master’s Degree in Economics at the University of Delaware. While an undergraduate, he was in the ROTC and entered the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant after graduating. He was on active duty for two years, including a year in Vietnam followed by eight years of reserves. He was discharged as a Captain.
While at Rutgers, he met the love of his life, Adrienne, who then studied nearby at Douglass College. They were happily married for 57 years, including their first full year of marriage apart while Jeff was in Vietnam. In addition to Adrienne, Jeff is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Doug and Ellen Koltenuk, his daughter and son-in-law Danielle and Jon Rappoport, the lights of his life, his four grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, Reese and Mila, and his sister Helene Gray. He was preceded in death by his parents Morris and Sarah Koltenuk, and his sister, Madeline Schwartz.
Jeff dedicated his career to State Farm Insurance in Pennsylvania, retiring there after 38 years. Jeff and Adrienne raised their family in Delaware and spent the early part of their retirement there. They were fortunate to have a wonderful, long-term circle of friends and they followed some of them to The Villages, FL, first vacationing, then moving there full-time, where Jeff said “every day is vacation.” Jeff enjoyed almost 11 years in The Villages where he played tennis, golf, and card games. He was best known for his passion for the game of duplicate bridge. Jeff earned the amazing title of Diamond Life Master, an achievement a tiny percentage of players ever reach. He developed a version of Precision Bridge that he called “The Koltenuk Club.” He was more than happy to teach and mentor the game of bridge to anyone who was interested.
Jeff will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
