Hobbs, Janice's Obituary
Janice W. Hobbs, 99, of Kissimmee, Florida, passed away on July 3, 2026. She was born on January 27, 1927, in Rome, Georgia, to Kenneth and Clair Wolcott.
Janice devoted her life to faith, family, and service. She was married to her husband of 73 years, Edward I. Hobbs Jr., a partnership marked by deep love and unwavering commitment. Together, they enjoyed a lifetime of camping, especially in the Smokie Mountains, where they found peace and joy in the outdoors.
Janice was a longtime Girl Scout leader and taught adult Sunday School, sharing her warmth, guidance, and strong Christian faith with others. She and Edward traveled on church mission trips to several foreign countries, serving communities with compassion. Their home was also a place of welcome, where they lovingly cared for Juan, a foreign exchange student from South America, who became part of their extended family. Janice also enjoyed the companionship of her beloved cats, who brought her comfort throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, who passed on August 11, 2019. Janice is survived by her daughters, Deborah Beadle (married to David Beadle) and Melanie Hurd (married to John Hurd); four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two nephews; and four nieces.
A private service will be held by the immediate family.
