I am so sorry to hear the news of Jan's passing: she was a delightful friend of almost 50 years, full of fun and enthusiasm. Jan kept in touch with my family long after we ceased to be near-neighbors: she and her lovely husband, Don, visited me in London (where we had a wonderful time at a Thames-side pub). Many years later, my mother was so happy when they, with daughter Lynn, had lunch with us during a cruise-stop in Seattle. I still have some of the letters Jan and my late mother exchanged, commiserating about "elder years." They agreed "getting old ain't for sissies."
The two photos I uploaded here are from Jan and Don's travels: one in the mid-1990s when they did a little road-trip to visit my parents in South Carolina, the other a portrait from one of the voyages that she sent my mom.
All my deepest condolences to Lynn and Eric and their extended family. "May her memory be a blessing."
