James R. Thomas, 69, passed away on October 22, 2013 under the loving care of his family at Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Leesburg, Florida. Mr. Thomas was born on February 28, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan to his parents Burnice and Hortense Thomas. He was a retired Warehouseman for the Clayton Corporation in Fenton, MO. Mr. Thomas moved to Leesburg 3 years ago from Bonne Terre, MO, he was a former member of Bible Baptist Church in Maplewood, MO and a former member of the Elks Lodge in Festus, MO. He was a lifelong Cardinals fan, loved sports, traveling, singing karaoke and was a “Very Fit Man”. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years: Shirley Thomas of Leesburg, FL; two daughters: Lisa (James) Salmo of Carbondale, IL and Debbie (Doug) Bert of St. Louis, MO; three brothers: Jack (Kay) Thomas of Palatka, FL, William Earl Thomas of O’Fallon, MO and Danny Ray Thomas of Palmyra, TN; three sisters: Shirley Whalen of Elsinore, MO, JoAnn Hall of Ballwin, MO and Bettina Johnson of Scottsdale, AZ; three grandchildren: David, Maddie and Jack and many nieces and nephews.
