James Dale Poulos' Obituary
James D. Poulos
1940 – 2025
James D. Poulos, 85, of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was marked by kindness, integrity, and an enduring love for those closest to him.
Born in 1940 in Estherville, Iowa, James became a gifted athlete, displaying talent and dedication both on and off the field. Throughout his life, he maintained a passion for sports, becoming a lifelong Nebraska Cornhusker football fan. He was also deeply interested in working on cars, finding great satisfaction in restoring and fine-tuning them. An avid Ham Radio operator, James enjoyed connecting with fellow enthusiasts across the country and beyond. In his later years, he found peace and joy in relaxing with his two beloved dogs, whose companionship brought him comfort, especially after the passing of his wife, Julie, in 2019.
James is survived by his three children: Jeff (and Lisa) Poulos, Jackie (and Craig) Ray, and Jon Poulos. He was a proud grandfather to Brent Poulos, Courtney (and Adam) Lusk, Stephanie (and Taylor) Fehl, and Philip Poulos. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Jasper, Myra, and Victor Lusk.
A celebration of James’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local animal shelter in his honor, reflecting his lifelong love for dogs.
