James "Jim" Carlton's Obituary
James “Jim” Carlton age 73 passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 in The Villages. Jim was born in Richmond, Virginia and moved to the Leesburg area in 1968 from King and Queen County, Virginia. In 1993 he moved to the Weirsdale area. He was a longtime member of the Grace Baptist Church in Belleview, where he often performed in the music program playing the guitar and singing gospel music with the church choir. Jim was a truck driver for many years driving long distance routes and eventually he drove concrete trucks. He later started Jim’s Lawn Service which he ran for many years. Those closest to him will remember his sincere Christian spirit his kind heart and easy going nature. He loved the outdoors and hunted and fished throughout his life, and he loved the sound of hunting dogs working the woods.
He is survived by his sons Randy (Dena) Carlton of Mascot, VA; Jeff (Debbie) Sloan of Lady Lake; and Marvin (Beth) Sloan of Leesburg; daughters – Linda Sue (Steve) Reeves of King William, VA; and Misty (Randall) Jones of Warrington, VA; 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A service celebrating Jim’s life is planned for 5:00 P. M. Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Grace Baptist Church in Belleview, Florida. The family will receive friends from 4:30 PM until service time. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to: The Benevolence Fund at Grace Baptist Church - 10835 S. E. 70th Avenue, Belleview, FL 34420.
