James A. Cole's Obituary
James A. Cole, 91, passed away Monday, April 18, 2011. He is survived by his first wife, Elizabeth Weissenstein; son, Richard (Barbara) Cole; step-son, John Kalbaugh; daughter, Rachel Cole; sister: Helen Quick, Mildred (Leroy) George, and Mary Bird; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife Mabel Cole of 23 years; a son, Robert W. Cole; and sisters: Imogene Burress and Maxine Whigham. After 35 yrs he retired as Foreman from U.S. Steel in Homestead, PA. He also worked several yrs for Braddock Hospital. James honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korea. He was one of the first 25 members to originate and a lifetime member of VFW Hawthorn Memorial Post 6389. He enjoyed volunteering his time while a resident at Hawthorn at Leesburg. James was also a member of the St. James Episcopal Church in Leesburg. A visitation will be held 10-11 am Wed. April 20th followed by funeral services at 11:00 am at Page-Theus Funeral Home.
