Believe it or not, Nina's reputation preceded my actual meeting of her in 1977. This woman's name kept popping up on my radar. Families of students attending Bushnell Elementary kept listing her on their child's form as the childcare place to go. So when I decided to start a family Nina's home was the place I selected. She, Jewel, and Granny Pope provided childcare for all four of my children, usually bestowing a nickname upon them. My youngest daughter was aptly called the "Screamer". Over a span of forty plus years my family came to love this family. We rejoiced at Nina's wedding where we chuckled as someone hollered out, "Way to go Ernie!". Our families has wept and rejoiced over many life altering events. The truth of the matter is, we, selfishly, wanted to keep her here, though bound in a pain racked body because we loved her so. Prior to Nina leaving this earth I had the opportunity to gentle caress her arm as she slept in her bed. I thought of the many decades that this loving woman spent comforting, loving, and nurturing all of the children that she came in contact with. "Well done, good and faithful servant......."
