Helen H. Takagi's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen H. Takagi, of Lady Lake, Florida, on Wednesday, May 6th, 2026. Her smile and gracious nature of saying “thank you” to everyone she met will be remembered.
Helen was born in Helper, Utah to her parents, Tetsuo Kinoshita and Shige Matsumoto and was the youngest sister of George, Joseph, Fred, and Hannah.
As a young woman, she met and married her husband, Harry Takagi. The two would go on to call many places throughout the country home, before settling down in Central Florida in 1985. They raised four children together, which they were very proud of.
Helen led an active life. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, billiards, travel, bingo, and sweets (chocolates!). She was curious and spirited with a joy for living and truly appreciated nature (loved looking at animals, trees, and at "her" blue sky). She taught aerobics as a resident at Lake Port Square Senior Living and was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church, both in Leesburg.
At the age of 95, she achieved a lifelong dream of riding a motorcycle through “Wish of a Lifetime” and “Gator Harley-Davidson” which was covered by Channel 6 – Orlando News. Her 104th birthday celebration at Lady Lake Senior Living was featured in The Villages Daily Sun newspaper.
Helen is preceded in death by husband, Harry I. Takagi, and son, Clayton Takagi.
She is survived by her three children, Jim Takagi, Vicki Fornasar and Mary Takagi; five grandchildren, Jessica (Brendan) Kennedy, Caitlin (Tyler) Miller, Lynda (John) Kovach, Brian (Jennifer) Takagi, Laura (Evan) Burns; eight great-grandchildren, Hana Kennedy, Katelyn Kovach, Jack Kovach, Chris Takagi, Amanda Takagi, Clare Burns, Grace Burns, Evan Burns; and Mary Youngs, partner of Clayton Takagi.
Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Helen's name to Cornerstone Hospice (please reference Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, Florida) by following the link below.
