Hal Bryant Helms' Obituary
Mr. Hal Bryant Helms, Jr., born Friday, June 27th 1952, passed away on the Thursday morning of September 26th, 2024. After a rapid succession of health anomalies in the previous weeks, Mr. Helms succumbed to a heart attack that swiftly took him in his rest in the middle of the night, while Hurricane Helene, the greatest storm of her season yet, encroached upon him. Mr. Helms served in the United States Army as a Medic during the Vietnam War. Hal would go on to to pioneer and be a leader of the Cold Fusion coding community, architect the framework of MySpace, become an expert in multiple front & back end coding languages, build many websites across all industries, work with top execs in all sectors - especially Tech, travel the globe teaching classes, compete regularly as a world class Texas Holdem’ poker player, was a published writer/journalist, classically trained musician, bass baritone opera singer and accomplished French Hornist, master carpenter, highly skilled cook, cigar connoisseur, avid reader, noted mentor, and advisor in every sense of the word. If ever there was a Renaissance Man, it was Hal! Most importantly, he was a son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, uncle, and a man of great intelligence, wit, sense of humor, and upstanding character. He was the youngest child of the late Reverend Father Hal Helms, Sr. & Helen Helms, leaders of the Community of Jesus, and brother to the late Phil, Tim & Sue Helms. He leaves behind his wife, Gen (Lauren) Lane-Helms, his children, Hal Patrick Helms, Elijah Robinson, Wesley & Spouse Lesslie Robinson, and Mikelle & Spouse Brian Dotson. Mr. Helms also leaves behind Susie, Mother of his only biological child, Hal Patrick. There’s also a plethora of loving family, friends, collaborators, and mentees who will forever be positively changed by the life & impact of Hal! While Hal is no longer physically with us, his legacy and memories will live on in every sense of the words. May he rest in peace.
