George V. Edwards' Obituary
George V. Edwards, 77, of Yalaha passed away Friday, August 16, 2013. Mr. Edwards was born December 7, 1935 in Canton, Missouri to the late James H. and Everna (Dunlap) Edwards. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. George was a retired Miami Field Branch Chief of Collections with the IRS. After retiring, he returned to Yalaha in 1987 from south Florida. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, a member of the Canton Missouri Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and loved woodworking, fishing and camping. Survivors include his loving wife of 26 years, June; sons, Jim and Bill Edwards of Yalaha, Jack Fichter of Navarre; daughters, Jan Fichter-Jones of San Diego, Ca, Jeanne Lightcap of Ponte Vedra and Jill Fichter of Jacksonville; brothers, Joe of Laurel, Md, Jerry of Granbury, Tx ; sister, Tempie Lynch of Davenport, Iowa; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. George was preceded in death by a brother, Jack. Visitation for George will be 6:00 – 8:00pm, Tuesday, August 20, 2013 with a wake service at 7:30pm in the Page-Theus Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be held 8:30am, Wednesday, August 21, 2013 in St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Leesburg with interment in Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice or St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
