George (Jake) Kastner Dersch Jr. of Leesburg, Florida, age 79, died on May 26th, 2026, in Leesburg Hospital. We are honoring his wishes to be cremated.
George was born in Camden, New Jersey on December 12th, 1946, the son of George Kastner Dersch Sr. and Evelyn Grace (Wescott) Dersch. He gradated from Pemberton Township High School, June of 1965 in New Jersey and then joined the Air Force in 1965 and was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in February 1969 as a Base Electrician. He then went to work at Detroit Edison Company, Detroit, Michigan on March 10th, 1969.
He married Jean Marie (Sears) Dersch in July of 1987. On March 10th, 2002, retired from DTE at 55 years of age after 33 years of employment – he retired as a journeyman cable splicer specialist. He relocated to Leesburg, Florida in March 2002 with his wife, Jean. Where he worked 4 years at Universal Studios in Orlando, then he worked for 1 year at Morrison Methodist Church in Leesburg and started volunteering at the Methodist Thrift store.
George is survived by his wife, Jean and two children: Deborah Lynn (Kurt) Neumann and Melissa Ann (Tim) Steckly and four stepchildren; Jim (Rose) Ichenberg, Rick (Sue) Ichenberg, Steve (Kelly) Ichenberg and Carie (Don) Brown; 17 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Melissa Renee Ichenberg.
