Gene Carl Clark's Obituary
Gene Carl Clark, 81, of Chugiak, Alaska, passed away on 19 March 2026 at Select Specialty Hospital in Oxford, Florida.
He was born on December 20, 1944, in Leesburg, Florida.
Gene lived a life defined by service, strength, and deep love for his family. He proudly served his country as a Vietnam Veteran, serving 20 years in the United States Army, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. As an Airborne Ranger and Supply Sergeant, he carried himself with discipline and honor. Even after his military retirement, Gene continued serving for another 20 years as a civilian with the Department of Defense, showing his unwavering commitment to his country and community. Retiring in Chugiak, Alaska.
On February 5, 1970, Gene married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Leonard. Together, they built a life rooted in loyalty, resilience, and love. Gene was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a deeply cherished grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Clark; his son Avery Clark and Daughter-in-Law Jennifer Clark, his daughter Kitlisa Carson and Son-in-Law Jarrett Carson, all from Wasilla, Alaska; and his grandchildren, Bryce Clark of Chugiak, Alaska, Alex Clark, Tatem Carson, and Madisen Clark, all of Wasilla, Alaska. He is also survived by his siblings, Suzanne Jones of Prattsville, New York, Kenneth Clark of Prattsville, New York, and Doris and husband David LeMay of Leesburg, Florida. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Edward Clark, and Lucy Laverne Parrish, as well as siblings Steven Clark, James Clark, and Richard Clark.
To know Gene was to know he loved his family, loved fishing, and loved to tell stories. His strength, loyalty, and quiet kindness will be missed. He will be remembered not only for his service to his country, but for the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped and the memories that will forever be held close.
