Frances Marie Marshall's Obituary
Frances “Bonnie” Marie Marshall, 92, of Tavares, FL, formerly of Leesburg, died Friday, March 21, 2025, at Waterman Village in Mt. Dora, FL. The daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Elia) Bonavita, Bonnie was born in Brockway, PA, on March 8, 1933. She was a graduate of Brockway High School and Bradford Hospital School of Nursing.
On June 11, 1955, Bonnie married the love of her life, the late Francis “Fran” LaRue Marshall, son of the late Francis and Pearle (Mason) Marshall of Renovo, PA. Bonnie and Fran lived in Williamsport and Harrisburg before settling in Camp Hill, PA. Bonnie worked for many years as a Registered Nurse at a methadone clinic in Harrisburg and was active in the Appalachian Audubon Society and the local chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation. A woman of deep faith and a devoted parishioner, Bonnie served for many years as a eucharistic minister at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Harrisburg, PA.
Bonnie retired with Fran to Leesburg in 1995, where she was active in local social, civic, and charitable groups including St. Paul Catholic Church, Church Women United, the Red Hat Society, the Lake County Supervisor of Elections, and the Highland Lakes neighborhood community. She enjoyed traveling, birding, wildlife, mahjong, bocce, bingo, flower arranging, potluck dinners, music, watching basketball and game shows, and spending time with her grandchildren. During the holidays, she was renowned for her Italian cookies and her Nativity set. In her final years, Bonnie received tender loving care from her personal aides Sandy McLay, Lisa Hernandez, Lorrie Rowe, Vicki Smith, and the staff of Brookdale Lake Tavares. Bonnie was a tireless volunteer, a dedicated advocate, and a beloved friend; she will be dearly missed.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Fran; her son, Kevin; her daughter, Cheryl; and her brother, John Bonavita of Folsom, CA. Surviving are her son, David (Wendy) Marshall of Duncannon, PA; her daughter-in-law, Margaret (Martin W.) Kane, of Greensboro, NC; close family friend Tracey (Fred) Estok of Howie-in-the-Hills; grandchildren Angelina (Matt) Allen of Berkeley Springs, WV; Martin M. (Margaret Lewis) Kane of Martin, TN; Caroline Kane of Greensboro, NC; Peter Kane of Raleigh, NC; Amelia Kane of Durham, NC; Matthew (Lindsay) Marshall of Camp Lejeune, NC; and three great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 8:15 AM on March 27, 2025, at Page Theus Funeral Home, 914 W. Main Street in Leesburg, FL. Interment will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL, with a graveside service at 11:00 AM. A Mass in Bonnie’s honor will be held on March 30, 2025, in Charlottesville, VA, with Fr. Michael Suarez, SJ, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Paul Catholic Church food pantry, 1330 Sunshine Avenue, Leesburg, FL, 34748.
