Euge! Where do I start? I guess high school. We were good old pals and graduated in 1969.
Camping down at the Satucket river is mostly a blur “ just because “. We played a lot of chess in the 70’s. He won most, but I’d win a few and that ticked him off!
Fast forward , we talked at least every month or so. He told his jokes , I told mine. We’d catch up on who was still around and who had passed. Always wondering who would be the last standing. In 2021 Karen and I stopped by to see Euge in FL. We played best of 3 chess games , he obviously won all 3.
Rest in peace old pal , I’ll miss ya!

Having lived across the country from me, first in Hawaii and then Florida, I only remember Uncle Gene from a few visits over the years. I remember him being friendly and quirky – always having a joke and a laugh handy. I wish I had a chance to know him better myself, but it’s heartwarming to hear the stories shared here which tell of a man who had a kind and giving heart, and brought genuine warmth and caring to those whose lives he touched. Rest well Uncle Gene.

I met Gene in a PC class at then Lake Sumter Community College around 2000. I was new to computers. He was an old pro and helped me catch on. We became friends and remained friends for years. He was a good guy. . . .

Eugene was considered a friend to my family and to myself. He cared about people and would give you the shirt off of his back. I've never known him to be a selfish person. But he did like helping people decent people that is. He did not care for foolishness but he did like to have a good time he just didn't think it should be at other people's expense. But he did like to meet people laugh. I'm glad that he got to meet my son before his passing. I am honored that I got to know Eugene and consider him a friend he used to make me laugh when he would purposely call me by any other name than my own which he knew my name but chose to call me other things and would smile knowing that he was calling me anything but my name it was a little private joke we always laughed about. Very bright intelligent decent human being. The world is a little darker and the little worse off than it was without him. To me this isn't just a loss for my family it isn't just a loss of a friend it is indeed a loss of a person who tried to make the world a better place. He will always be missed by me and he will live on in my memory rest in Peace Eugene. I pray that on the day of resurrection you are found clothes and righteousness for your master and that you will be told those good words well done now good and faithful servant My condolences to his family for your great loss.

My most vivid memory of Uncle Eugene was when I was maybe 14 or 15. He had come to visit one summer. I was riding my dad's old bike and he said that couldn't continue. It was an old heavy bike from the 60's. So we go to a flea market, he finds an old bike frame, that if I recall correctly, was in some bushes by the door. Pays them $20 maybe. We spend the rest of the afternoon cleaning it and going to various places for parts. We fixed it up and I had a practically brand new bike by the end of the day. I rode that bike until college. It got me to school and work and wherever else I wanted to go. It meant a lot to me that he did that for me and that we did that together.
