I shall remember Erica as a kind and indulgent sister. I remember her arriving home from boarding school at the end of each term, with her huge trunk and lacrosse stick. She was a very good lacrosse player. Later, when I was a bit older, she and I used to ride together. She was a good rider too, and we had adventures in the countryside around home. She was always so glamorous. As a small child I recall her going off to London to pursue a modeling career, coming home at weekends with all the latest fashions and wonderful hairdos! Her dressing table was a riot of cosmetics and jewelry!
Later, when she became a stewardess with BOAC (as BA was then) I stayed in the London flat she shared with other BOAC girls, a great treat!
My thoughts are with her husband Preston, who has looked after her so brilliantly during her illness. I know he will miss her most awfully. Thoughts also for her daughter Vanessa, my much loved niece.
