Elmer Wayne Swope's Obituary
Elmer Wayne Swope, 84, Leesburg, Florida passed away on November 16, 2017 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Leesburg with his loving wife Helga by his side. Wayne was born on March 28, 1933 in Elk Ranch, Arkansas to his parents Elmer Warren Swope and Velma (Woody) Swope. He and his loving wife Helga moved to Leesburg 17 years ago from Paradise, California. He was former Communications Manager for Pacific Bell. He was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 till 1962 and was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed an active lifestyle at The Royal Highlands in Leesburg, playing Golf and Softball in the community league. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years: Helga Swope of Leesburg, FL; two sons: Michael Swope and Mark Swope both of Redding, CA; two sisters: Mary Swope of Leesburg, FL and Louise Swope and her husband Gilbert Engel of Niagara, Wisconsin; three grandchildren: Shane Swope, Heather Russell and Holly Swope; ten great grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, June Wicklund and Ina Rumpf, brother, Jack Swope and a beloved daughter, Cynthia Swope. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 1:00PM at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida with Military Honors by the U.S. Air Force.
