Elaine E. Atkinson's Obituary
Elaine E. Atkinson, 73, Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away on August 11, 2018 at Orlando Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family and staff of Cornerstone Hospice. Elaine was born on May 16, 1945 in Spartanburg, South Carolina to her parents James H. Mitchell and Eunice (Chapman) Mitchell. She was a devoted homemaker to her children and loving husband J.D. She has resided in Fruitland Park, Florida for the past 2 years with her daughter, Tracy and her husband Rev. Jeffrey T. Raisor. She was a Pentecostal by faith and was a member of Calvary Life Church in Granite City, Illinois. Elaine was devoted to her church by teaching Sunday school, being a Prayer Warrior, and serving as a Missionette Leader. Her hobbies included reading her bible, cooking, sewing and creating ceramic items with her loving hands for her friends and family. She is survived by her loving husband: John D. “J.D.” Atkinson of Edwardsville, IL; four daughters: Cheryl Lynn Allison of Tampa, FL, Tracy Michelle Raisor and her husband, Rev. Jeffrey T. Raisor of Fruitland Park, FL, Dorinda Leigh Wilson and her husband, Rev. Kent D. Wilson of Troy, IL and Tonya Ann Riel and her husband, Ronald T. Riel of Robertsdale, AL; a sister: Diane Yeary and her husband, Bruce Yeary of Inman, S.C.; nine grandchildren: Jacob, Christi, Brian, Amber, Stephen, Kendra, Mitchell, Audrea and Aryn; many loving great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Leon Mitchell, a sister, Hazel Horner and a beloved grandson, Kent D. Wilson, Jr. Funeral Services to be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 1:00PM at Page-Theus Funeral Home, Leesburg, Florida. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from 11:00AM to the hour of service at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Leesburg, Florida. The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations be made in her loving memory to Girls Shelter of Ft. Smith, Inc. at http://www.girlsshelterfs.org.
