In loving memory of Edward Charles Gilmer.
Edward Charles Gilmer was born on April 24, 1961, and peacefully fell asleep in death on July 22, 2026.
Edward made his home in Leesburg, Florida, where he faithfully served the City of Leesburg for several years. He was a hardworking man who took pride in his work and was replaced by those who knew him.
Edward had a passion for basketball and was a gifted artist. He especially enjoyed freehand drawing and airbrush art, using his creativity to bring beauty and expression to everything he created. He will be remembered for artistic talent, quiet strength, and the love he had for his family.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Charles Gilmer and Annie Bell (King) Gilmer, and by his brother, Ralph Gilmer.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Doretha Gilmer; his children, Latwaron Gaines (Owen Gaines) and Sheena Gilmer; his mother-in-law Retha Bell, stepchildren, Felicia Cuyler (Francis), Cherie Dixon (William), Glenn Dixon (Mateena), and Terrance Wolfe.
He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Bri'anna White (Kylik) and Kendrick Daniels Jr.; his step-grandchildren, Tyrek Roundtree, Tyrin Roundtree, Keliyah Williams, William Smith Jr., Wilandria Smith, Ameerah Dixon, Saniyah Dixon, Terrance Wolfe Jr., Terrell Wolfe, and Terriya Wolfe. His step-great grandchildren Tysen Roundtree, and Kesia Lett.
Edward is survived by his sisters, Carolyn Gilmer, Mary Alice Gilmer, Diane Hepburn (Herman), Deloris Gilmer, Doris Shelton (Alan), Angie Gilmer, Vera Gilmer, and Ethel Gilmer; his brothers, Tony Gilmer, Louis "Chico' Gilmer Jr., and Alvin Gilmer; He also leaves behind many beloved brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members, dear friends, and brothers and sisters in the Christian congregation who will miss him deeply.
While our hearts grieve his loss, we find comfort in Jehovah God's promise recorded at Revelation 21:3, 4, which assures us that a time is coming when "death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore." We look forward with confidence to the fulfillment of God's promise and the hope of seeing Edward again in the resurrection.
Edward's kindness, creativity, love, and faithful example will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he is deeply missed, his memory will forever be cherished until the day God's promises are fulfilled.
