Edward Thayer (Blackie) Bellis II's Obituary
Edward Thayer (Blackie) Bellis, II, 91, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015. He was born in Tishabee, Alabama. He enjoyed 24 years living in The Villages Retirement Community of Lady Lake, Florida. He was on The All Centennial Baseball Team from the University of Alabama, going on to be a pitcher in the minor leagues for the Boston Red Sox. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, a retired Tool and Die Foreman, and a man of deep faith and family devotion. Survivors include his daughters, Beverly (Mark); Elaine (Mike); granddaughters, Shanon (Eric); Olivia and Rose; grandsons, Eddie IV (Jennifer); Jeremy (Jody); Joshua (Lindsay); Teddy and Bobby; six great grandchildren, Logan; Bailey; Maddie; Thayer; Holden and Ava. He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine of 57 years and a son Edward III (Phyllis). Memorial Services will be on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 2:00PM at St. Georges Episcopal Church, Lady Lake, FL. Memorial donations may be made to The Crimson Tide Foundation (for baseball scholarships) at Box 870343 Tuscaloosa, AL 35487–0343.
