Dorothy Vivian Meyers' Obituary
Dorothy Vivian Meyers, 87, of Leesburg, Florida, went to be with the Lord on August 23, 2022. Dorothy was born on October 12, 1934, in St. Louis, Missouri, to her beloved parents; Harry and Catherine (Pfeiffer) Ward.
Dorothy was a member of Hematite Christian Church in Hematite, Missouri for quite some time. She loved Missouri, and was a very active member in her community as well as an active member of The Elks Lodge 1721 in Festus, MO. Dorothy lived in the city of Festus until just two years ago when she moved to Leesburg to be with her daughter Cynthia.
Dorothy and her husband, Ronald, had been married for 49 loving years until his passing on December 11, 2002. She worked as a seamstress for the ILGWU (International Ladies Garment Workers Union) for 30 years until her retirement. It was at that time that she began working in the cafeteria at Festus Elementary School.
A devoted and social woman, Dorothy loved to be around family and friends. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, and going on cruises. She was also an avid reader of James Patterson novels and will affectionately be remembered for her love of nature and feeding animals, especially hummingbirds.
Dorothy’s kind heart and strong-willed nature will be missed and remembered by many.
Dorothy is survived by a son, Kevin Meyers of Franklin, VA. four daughters: Cynthia Roth and her husband, Ken of Leesburg, FL, Rhonda Van Noy of Festus, MO, Patricia Thomure and her husband, Rob of Festus, MO, and Tina Heimos and her husband, Ken of Festus, MO. A brother; Tony Ward of Iron Mountain, MO. As well as 19 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronald, a son; Keith, four brothers; Harry, Earl, Walter, and Alec, and three sisters: Marion, Mildred, and Merle June.
