Dixie S. Treadway's Obituary
Dixie Steelman Treadway passed away Monday, April 28, after a long illness. Born September 15, 1928 in Lamar, MO. Married to George Treadway (19231997) on “The Bride & Groom Radio Show” in 1949 and shared a marriage & romance until George’s passing in 1997. Dixie attended Memphis State University and was in Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She was a member of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization).
Dixie and George lived in Nashville, TN (19491959), Knoxville, TN (19591971), returned to Nashville, TN (19711978), then Leesburg, FL (1978~present).
Dixie was a devoted wife and mother. Dixie was a very sweet lady who loved God and life and never had anything bad to say about anyone.
She was active in real estate in both Nashville and Florida. She and George founded Treadway Industries in 1983.
Dixie was active in Morrison United Methodist Church of Leesburg, as well as many other philanthropic and charitable causes.
She is survived by 3 children and their spouses (Lissa Stevens and husband John of Lyles, TN, Tommy Treadway and wife Jeanine of Leesburg, FL, and John Treadway and wife Diane also of Leesburg, FL) as well as 6 grandchildren and their spouses (Ely Kirby and wife Alisha of White Bluff, TN, Allison Liston and husband John of Leesburg, FL, Dustin Treadway and wife Meghan also of Leesburg, FL, Danielle Feher and husband Patrick of Lake Mary, FL, Zack Maruniak and his brother Sam Maruniak of Leesburg) as well as 7 great grandchildren (Tayla Kirby, Bentley Kirby, Zek Kirby, Timothy Liston, Amber Lague, Alexis Feher, & Autumn Feher). She is also survived by her brother, Rex Steelman and his wife Sandra, of Kansas City, MO.
Visitation is at Page-Theus funeral home on Main Street, Leesburg 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday. There will be a brief memorial service at the funeral home on Friday at 1:00pm, followed by burial next to George at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Their love never failed or faltered and their romance will finally be continued forever in heaven.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to P.E.O. Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society, St. Jude Childrens’ Hospital, and/or the Russell Home for Atypical Children of Orlando.
