Dennis Tharon Grey's Obituary
Dennis Tharon Grey passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the age of 63. He was born on October 9, 1947 in Nashville, GA to the late Tharon and Dorothy Gray. As a young child Dennis moved to Florida, and spent a great deal of his life in Florida, but also travelled a great deal, making his way to every continent in the world. Part of his travels were during service to his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, where he was distinguished with a Silver Star, Bronze Star and a Purple Heart, and later when he went on to serve in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Lieutenant Commander. Dennis was a graduate of Brigham Young University, received his Master’s Degree from the Univ. of Oklahoma, and study law at the South Texas College of Law. As a second career, after the military, Dennis worked for the Lake County Circuit Court system. He was known as a devoted family man, who loved his church. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of over 45 years, Hilda Grey of Yalaha, one son; Douglas Quitman (Amy) Grey of Ft. Lauderdale, and two daughters; Kendra Katheraine Grey of Pembroke Pines, and Regina Lavon Small of Leesburg. He is also survived by two sisters, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Grey will be held on Thursday, Mar. 3, 2011 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints, located on Mt.Vernon Rd. in Leesburg, at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Florida National Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
