David William Bishop's Obituary
David William Bishop, 91, of Leesburg, passed away on June 25, 2018. David was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 6, 1927 to the late David and Miriam (Walker) Bishop.
David is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Theresa Bishop; daughters, Linda Taylor (Steve), Mary Werner (Jon), Jean Bishop (Rick Sparks) and son, Steve Bishop; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Michael Bishop. David was predeceased by his sons, Russell G. Bishop and Douglas D. Bishop and one sister, Mary Ann Wainwright.
David was a Navy veteran and served in WWII. He graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering with an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Air Conditioning Technology. He graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Technology with an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Electrical Technology and with an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Technical Engineering. After retiring, he was a lector for St. Paul’s Catholic Church for over fifteen years and a RSVP volunteer tutoring K-5 at two local elementary schools. In addition, he spent ten years researching his genealogy and wrote three books which were printed and distributed to relatives and libraries.
A celebration of life mass will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at 8:30 am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Leesburg. Burial will follow at Lone Oak Cemetery and arrangements are under the care of Page Theus Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cornerstone Hospice of Tavares, FL.
