Cherie Ann (Ladd) Pierce's Obituary
It is with deep respect that we acknowledge the passing of Cherie Ann (Ladd) Pierce, who died peacefully at her home in Fruitland Park, Florida, on January 9, 2026.
Born on July 12, 1945, in Macon, Georgia, Cherie was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother whose life was defined by unconditional love and the joy of being surrounded by family.
Life and Legacy
Family: She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Laurel “Sonny” Pierce, and her four children: Lori Wilson (Gregg), Steve Pierce(Babs), James Pierce(LaDeana), and Elizabeth Wade (Rodney) She was a proud grandmother to 12 and a great-grandmother to 5. She loved all the little ones, hers, and everyone else’s! She loved people and pets. She is proceeded in death by her parents and brother. Her sister Connie Hanshew survives.
Ohio Roots: A graduate of Woodville High School, she and Sonny raised their family in Woodville, Graytown and Luckey, Ohio. She was a dedicated homemaker and caregiver. She enjoyed farming and helping Sonny operate the Portage Motel.
Interests: Cherie enjoyed gardening, golfing, and baking. She was known for her involvement in the Red Hat Club and her passion for flower arranging. Her biggest interest was always family.
Florida Retirement: After years of hard work in Ohio, Cherie and Sonny retired to Florida in 2002, where she continued to focus on her family, and her love for social connection.
Celebration of Life
In honor of what would have been her 81st birthday, a celebration of Cherie’s life will be held on July 12, 2026, at the family homestead. Details regarding the time and specific arrangements will be shared by the family as the date approaches.
