Charles Otis Dean's Obituary
Charles Otis Dean, 95, Leesburg, Florida passed away on July 22, 2019 at his residence under the loving care of his family. Charles was born on August 22, 1923 in Fullerton, California to his parents Arthur Charles Dean and Maude Evelyn (Whitecell) Dean. He was a retired Foreman for the Veterans Administration at their Long Beach Veterans Hospital in Long Beach, California. Charles was a proud U.S. Army Veteran who served as a Paratrooper in the South Pacific during World War II. Charles was one of the rescuers of Los Banos Missionary prison camp, where the Americans rescued over 2000 internees at the camp. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for dedicated service to his country. He and his loving wife Grace moved from Citrus Heights, California to Leesburg in 2016. Charles was a former Pathfinder Leader, helping to develop youth in The Seventh Day Adventist Church. Charles was an avid model train collector. He is survived by his loving wife of 72years: Grace Dean of Leesburg, FL; a son: Charles Dennis Dean and his wife Chestene of Redding, CA; a daughter: Sandra Stanley and her husband Robert of Leesburg, FL; seven grandchildren: Tony, Brian, Ariana, Stacy, Robby, Aaron and Karen and ten great-grandchildren. Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 1:30PM at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida with Military Honors.
