Carol Joan Harris' Obituary
Carol Joan Harris, 83, Jacksonville, Florida formerly of Sonora, California passed away on December 31, 2022 at Taylor Care Facility in Jacksonville, Florida. Carol was born on January 23, 1939 in Oakland, California to her parents Charles Walter Miller and Harriett Marquart.
Carol was a former Child Care Director of a Child Care Facility in California. She had lived most of her adult life in the Bay Area of California and had moved to Jacksonville, Florida 6 years ago from Tarzana, California. Carol loved the outdoors, especially riding bicycles, hiking, swimming and teaching children how to swim as well as competitive swimming. She and her late husband eloped to Minden, Nevada when she was 17 and got married with the coins they had saved in their piggy bank.
Carol is survived by her loving children: James Harris and his wife Kaylene of Kaysville, UT, Daniel Harris of Jacksonville, FL, Sindy Seal of Topanga, CA and Glen Harris and his wife Emily of Lilburn, GA; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, James T. Harris.
Graveside Services will be held at a later date at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, California.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to The Humane Society in Carol’s loving memory.
