Carlton C. Vielhauer's Obituary
Carlton “RED” C. Vielhauer, age 93, passed away Friday, February 25, 2011 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Vielhauer was retired from the U. S. Postal Service after 29 years of service. He moved to the Fruitland Park area in 1975 from his birthplace of Herkimer, New York. He was a World War II Veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps and received a Purple Heart while landing in Okinawa, Japan. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Herkimer, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the Elks, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He is survived by his son – Skip (Susan) Vielhauer of Punta Gorda, FL; a son-in-law James Minosh Sr. of Remsen, NY, his long time companion Vivian Dekar; and 4 Grandchildren – Lynn Minosh of Natchitoches, Louisianna; James Minosh Jr. of Remsen, New York; Eric Vielhauer, and Britta Groll both of Littleton, Colorado; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; Gus and Louie Vielhauer, his wife of 56 years, Kathryn James Vielhauer, who passed away in 1995, and his daughter, Carol Vielhauer Minosh, deceased in 1998. A celebration of Red’s life was held at 12:00 P. M., Sunday, March 6, 2011 at the Harbor Oaks Club House in Fruitland Park, FL. There will be a burial service in NY later this Spring/Summer. The date is still yet to be determined. Page Theus Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with all arrangements.
