Carl Bruce Sherington's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carl Bruce Sherington (“Butch”), of Astatula, Florida. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late Carl and Leota Sherington, Butch quickly discovered that his heart belonged to the sunshine and warm breezes of Florida.
In the early 1970s, he made his way to Naples before eventually settling permanently in Central Florida. It was there that he met Deborah (Debbie), with whom he built a loving family. Together they raised two children, and Butch worked for many years as a roofer until his retirement.
Butch had a deep love for the outdoors. He especially enjoyed playing horseshoes, and he was an avid bowler who participated in several pool leagues. His affection for animals was unmistakable—his two black labs were truly his “fur babies.”
After a courageous battle with cancer, Butch passed away on March 25, 2026, at the age of 71.
He is survived by his companion, Deborah Sherington, his son, Cody, and his wife, Cheyenne, his daughter, Jessi, with her husband, Zack, and three cherished grandchildren: Alex, Rex, and Cyrus.
A funeral service will be held on April 3, 2026, at Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funeral Home, located at226 E. Burleigh Blvd., Tavares, FL, beginning at 6:45 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the family.
