Bessie Lenora Culbreth (Davis)'s Obituary
Bessie Lenora Culbreth, 85, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 15, 2026 in Leesburg, FL. She was born at home July 17, 1940 in Babson Park, Florida to the late Samuel and Agnes Davis. Bessie was a member of Lake Saunders Baptist Church. She became a nurse in 1978 and worked for 44 years, starting at Lake Community Hospital in Leesburg, then for Leesburg Regional Hospital which eventually became UF Health Leesburg. She loved nursing, working until she was in her 80s. Her family was very important to her. She was married for 54 years to the love of her life Bobby, until his passing in 2013.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Kelly Davis and half-sister Linnie Rogers. She is survived by her sister Martha Chambliss, son Samuel Culbreth and his wife Kerry, daughter Renee’ Strobel and her husband Melvin, three grandchildren Aaron Culbreth, Brittany Figueroa and her husband Victor E., and Anneliese Strobel, and three great-grandchildren Naomi, Matthais, and Elijah as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Visitation will be held Thursday, May 21 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Page-Theus Funeral Home in Leesburg. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 23 at Grand Island Baptist Church at 2PM where she was a founding member. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memory Gardens in Eustis.
