Barbara A. Lightner's Obituary
Barbara A. Lightner age 71, passed away early Saturday morning December 3, 2011, at the Cornerstone Hospice House in Tavares with her family by her side. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and moved to the Leesburg area in 1990 from Old Bridge, New Jersey. She spent her working life in the Restaurant Business and retired as a manager with the McDonald’s Corporation. She had a passion for children and in New Jersey founded “Dreams Come True” and upon moving to Florida she founded “Joining Hands Incorporated”. Both organizations served as an advocate for seriously and terminally ill children. Each group worked to grant wishes and offer moral support to the children and their families facing difficult situations. She will also be fondly remembered by family and friends as an avid card player, her passion for “B I N G O”, and the many trips she and her husband went on.Her survivors include:Her husband of 50 years – Melvin; Son – Dale (Jody) Lightner of Lake Mary, Florida; Daughters Mary Ann (John III) Jensen and Jamie (Rich) Toth both of Monroe Township, New Jersey; and 6 grandsons- Justin; John IV; Jordan; Kyle; Richie; and Michael; Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 1:00 P. M. at Page – Theus Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 914 W. Main St., Leesburg, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Cornerstone Hospice & Palliative Care in Tavares, Florida.Page-Theus Funeral Home and Cremation Services have been entrusted with all arrangements.
