Arlene Hudson Harris' Obituary
Wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Arlene Hudson Harris, age 77,  gained her wings on Thursday afternoon,  July 27, 2023.  Arlene was born in Chicago, Illinois, to the union of Clarence and Mary Stennis Hudson on  November 10, 1945. Arlene was the youngest of a large family: Hardy Hudson, Mary Lee, Gladys, Edna, Kathleen, Elisha, and twins that died at childbirth.
Arlene worked for Chicago Transit Authority for 27 years before her retirement in 1996. While working as a Rail Supervisor for the Chicago Transit,  she met Leon Harris. They were married on August 28, 1990, and lived in Chicago, Illinois, for several years before relocating to Georgia. Arlene and Leon then moved to Florida in 2020.  She was a devout Catholic and attended St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church.
She enjoyed spending time doing puzzles, bowling, and reading.  She especially loved working in her garden, and she had quite the green thumb. She especially loved Hostas, Crepe Myrtles, Stella D’ Oro Daylilies, and her new favorite, Mandevillas.
Arlene was preceded in death by her son. Arnold D. Hudson; her parents, Clarence and Mary Stennis Hudson, and her siblings - -  Hardy, Mary Lee, Gladys,  Edna, Kathleen, and Elisha.
Arlene will be missed dearly.  She will be remembered as a strong, determined, and driven woman.
Loving and happy memories of Arlene will be kept in the hearts and minds of her husband of 33 years, Leon Harris; her children --  Andrea Hudson Blalock and her husband, Thomas H. Blalock Jr., Anthony Harris and his wife Tashea Harris;  six adoring grandchildren - - Alicia Daniel, Andrew Collins, Autumn Blalock, Thomas “Alexander” Blalock, Adelyn Harris, and Ariel Harris, as well as her step-children, Leon Harris Jr. and Ebony Harris
Her life goes on in the love and memories that her family and friends will keep in their hearts.  Arlene now rejoices in the presence of our Lord. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is safe in the arms of our Lord.
A private family memorial service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Leesburg, Florida.
