It was a great privilege being coached and mentored by the Hickeys. It went far beyond sports. They positively inpmpacted the lives of many young people helping them to grow into great adults. Candor was indeed blessed to have them in the community and entrusting their sons and daughters to this wonderful couple. They served the
Lord well on this earth and no doubt are in his presence in Heaven.

It is with a heavy heart that we received the news of Mrs. Hickey's death. There are so many fond memories of she and Mr. Hickey that are too numerous to mention but upper most on our lists are remembering baby sitting some of you kids while you were in Candor when you lived on Main Street over Alan's sisters garage, her driving us cheerleaders to a basketball playoff game on a cold wintry night and us cheerleaders having to push her car up one of Ithaca's many steep hills (we were late arriving at the game cold and wet), having breakfast with your parents long after their retirement, staying over with your mom on a camping trip we took up north and the best part, receiving the scrapbook of their time in Candor that your mom gave us at that time. That has been shared with some basketball "greats" from our little town who no doubt would not not have made that list without having such a great coach who could take kids beyond what many might have thought their potential was.
