Anthony (Tony) Gangone
Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-grandfather
Anthony (Tony) Gangone of Leesburg, Florida left for his place in Heaven on February 8, 2026. He was born on June 22, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Joseph and Eva (Gambino) Gangone. He was the second of four children including his brother Joseph A., who pre-deceased him, and twin sisters Joan Cusack and Rosemary Licciardello (Anthony), both whom reside in Staten Island, NY.
Tony’s early years were shaped by the New York City school system. He enjoyed both Junior High School and High School where he was an excellent student, president of the Student Council, bank manager for the High School funds, and passionate member of the football team. After High School, he enlisted in the Naval Air Service for several years, completing his time with an honorable discharge as an Aviation Electrician.
Thereafter, Tony began a successful 50-year career in publishing where he was a valued colleague, manager and mentor as well as a recipient of numerous awards. He went on to raise a family of four beloved children, Lynn Marie Gangone (Natasha Felten) of Denver, CO, Lisa Gangone of Middletown, CT, David Gangone of Fredericksburg, VA, and Mark Gangone (Cristina Cerullo) of Norwood, MA. He leaves behind three grandchildren, David Jr., Diedre and Dustin and two great grandchildren.
In 1985, he married Lucy Bethel, who survives him, and together they raised their loving daughter Bethel Lynn of Ocala, FL. She and her husband Zacheriah Ramirez and their three cherished daughters Alexandria, Brooklyn and Sofia were the light of Tony’s later years in life.
Tony relocated to Leesburg, Florida in 2005 where he and Lucy developed many new friendships while enjoying the Florida lifestyle. They continued to commute to their Cape Cod home and enjoyed sunset swims, golf and many wonderful friends. And being a lifelong Patriots and Giants fan as well a passionate Red Sox and Yankee fan made for interesting weekend viewing! Above all, he felt blessed in both family and life.
When asked what he was particularly proud of, he would say his wonderful family, including his wife Lucy, siblings, children, grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and great grandchildren all of whom he loved dearly.
There will be a Memorial Service for Tony in the springtime. If you care to make a donation in memory of him, please consider St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
