Obituary for Albert D. CanneyAlbert D. Canney, age 94, of Lady Lake, FL, passed away April 20, 2011 at Lane-Purcell Hospice House in Sumterville, FL. He was born August 13, 1916 in Haverhill, MA, son of Charles A. and Ruth Morrison Canney. Prior to retirement, he delivered fuel oil for Cranton and Busfield Oil Companies. He had also been a firefighter on the Haverhill Fire Department for a number of years. He was a WW II Army Air Corp veteran serving as flight officer and radar specialist with the 494th Bombardment Unit (Kelley’s Kobras) in the Pacific. He is survived by his second wife, Ruth Spurr Canney of Lady Lake, FL; two daughters, Judith Burke of Groveland, MA and Kathleen Barber of Jamestown, NY; son-in-law Robert Barber; 10 grandchildren: Mark Burke, Dawn Martin, Terry Masera, James Burke, and Michael Burke of Haverhill, MA; Maureen Bergeron of Groveland, MA; Dawn Seyler of Warren, PA; Lynn La Tone and David Barber of Jamestown, NY, and Greg Barber of Falconer, NY; a sister Rosamond Sansoucie of New York City; 22 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Florence L. Spurr Canney who passed away Jan. 1976; a daughter, Rosalyn L. Canney, and an infant daughter; two brothers, Bradford M. Canney and Augustus S. Canney; and a son-in-law, Milton R. Burke.The family suggests that memorials in his memory be made to Sam’s Walk for Dreams [Make a Wish], P.O. Box 37, Plaistow, NH 03865; Jamestown Audubon Center, 1600 Riverside Road, Jamestown, NY 14701; or a charity of your choice.
