Steadwell “Stead” F. Gnehm passed away Friday morning, August 19, 2011 at the Lane Purcel Hospice House in Sumterville, Florida. Mr. Gnehm was born in the Bronx, New York and moved to the Lake/Sumter area over 30 years ago from Massapequa, NY. Before his retirement to Florida he enjoyed a long career as a Landscape Architect. During W. W. II he proudly assisted the American war effort by serving with the Merchant Marines. He will be remembered fondly for his deep love of the game of golf (when he wasn’t playing golf he was watching golf). He also enjoyed traveling, and visited 40 different countries during his lifetime. He is survived by: His wife of 6 years Marilyn; Daughter – Joan Leckinger, of Annapolis, MD; 3 Grandchildren Bob, David, and Stephanie; and 3 Great – Grandchildren – Caitlin, Lucas, and Tim, III.The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 21, 2011 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Page-Theus Funeral Home and Cremation Services in downtown Leesburg, Florida. There will be a Memorial Service celebrating Stead’s life 2:00 P. M.
