Merick Rain Madison

August 8, 1991 - June 3, 2022

Merick Rain Madison, 30, of Fruitland Park, FL, passed away peacefully at home with his loving dog, Vanya, at his side. Merick was born on August 8th, 1991 in Columbus Ohio and moved to Fruitland Park, FL In February of 2021. Merick was an amazing student, having received two Bachelor's degrees from Western Colorado University; one in Outdoor Education and the other in Environmental Studies, as well as a Master’s degree in Outdoor Recreation. Merick was currently working on his PhD as well from Ohio University. Merick was a very intelligent young man, he worked well as a teaching assistant to his peers and was an excellent environmental guide as well. Growing up, he loved the outdoors and always stayed active. He was also an avid member of David’s United Church of Christ in Canal Winchester, Ohio; where he always looked forward to attending weekly Zoom meetings with his fireside connections group. Merick is survived by his loving parents, Melanie Johnson and his stepfather Frank Ehlman, and Bruce Samblanet, as well as his stepmother; Lisa Samblanet. Three brothers; Nate and Amon Samblanet and Zachary Ehlman. His Aunts and Uncles; Terri and Steve West, Lois Samblanet, Jeannie Bixler and Steve Bixler, Phil Samblanet and Karen Samblanet as well as his beloved Great Aunt and Uncle; Peggy and Larry Murdock. Merick is also survived by his many adoring cousins; Eric West, Sadie West, Amanda Armstrong, Brittany Johnson, Chelsea Johnson, and Jacob Johnson. And of course, his devoted dog, Vanya. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM, June 19 at David’s United Church of Christ, 80 W. Columbus St., Canal Winchester, OH 43110.
