James Neal Neumann

September 2, 1925 - December 31, 2018

James (Jim) Neal Neumann left us peacefully on December 31, 2018. He was born in Streator, IL on September 2, 1925. A Veteran of World War II, James, formerly from MI, was a graduate from Lawrence Tech University. He worked as a mechanical engineer for General Motors in Elyria, OH. He moved to the Leesburg area in 2005. James was active in East Elyria Kiwanis serving several positions. He also volunteered annually for the Elyria Special Olympics. He was a member of the Oberlin Golf Club. He was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Leesburg. James is survived by son Gary (Tess) with whom he lived with since 2005; grandsons Scott and Mathew both from Ohio, and his brother Steve of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Pauline Nee Martin, his parents Nicholas and Isabelle, his siblings Nicholas, Kenneth, Jeanne, Robert, Eileen and Marge. A Memorial Service and Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 2nd at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 130 Lone Oak Street in Leesburg, at 10:00 AM followed by a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in his memory to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and / or Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska. His remains will be buried at White Chapel Cemetery in MI.
