Ronald L. Palmer age 81 passed away late Friday, Oct. 21, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Ronald was born in Niagara Falls, NY but spent his childhood in the Dade City and Zephyr Hills areas. He moved to the Leesburg area in 1974 from California. He is the former owner and operator of Ron’s Superette in Leesburg, and for 22 years he owned Gator Services a lawn maintenance company which worked extensively in the Hawthorne development. Most recently he was employed as a Courier with Florida Heart and Vascular Services.Ron will be fondly remembered as a very active person who never met a stranger. He enjoyed bowling, golf, and fishing but most of all he loved all things Gator and was a proud member and former officer of the Lake County Gator Club.He was pre-deceased by his Parents – Leslie Palmer and Dorothy Palmer-Love; grandsons – Michael and Ryan Palmer; and a Sister- Charlene McElrath. Survivors include: His wife of 28 years – Karen; 3 Sons- Scott L. Palmer – Leesburg; Daren Palmer – Lady Lake; and Steve Palmer – Leesburg; Daughter – Rona Carroll – Leesburg; Sisters – Jackie Vance Nampa, Idaho; and Connie (Jack) Aplin – Monarch Beach, CA; 6 Grandchildren – Ty Dean; Summer Park; Myan; Dustin; Alyx and Cory Palmer; and 5 Great Grandchildren – Kyle, Landon, Gracie, Auburn, and Payton; A funeral service celebrating Ron’s Life will be Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011 at Page-Theus Funeral Home 914 West Main Street, Leesburg, FL 34748 (352)787-5511 with Pastor Tom Church will serving as Officiant. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P. M. until service time on Wednesday.
