Gary Alan Geiger, 79, Leesburg, Florida passed away on May 30, 2019 at Tavares Hospice House under the loving care of his wife and staff of Cornerstone Hospice. Gary was born on September 12, 1939 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to his parents Milton Michael Geiger and Alma Petrine (Holm) Geiger. He was a retired Security Analyst for the Internal Revenue Service. Gary was a proud United States Army veteran. He and his loving wife Margery moved in 2003 from Stone Mountain, Georgia to Leesburg, Florida to the Plantation. He was very active serving as the Master of Ceremonies at many community events and was well known as the “Voice of The Plantation”. He announced softball games and tournaments for various leagues in the area from "Gary's Aerie" at the Plantation Ballfield for many years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Leesburg, The American Cancer Society and volunteered at Leesburg Regional Medical Center. Gary was of the Lutheran faith and was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Leesburg, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 35years: Margery Speckin Geiger of Leesburg, FL; a daughter: Theresa Ann Geiger of Waukesha, WI; three sons: Gary Michael Geiger of Waukesha, WI, David Alan Geiger and his wife Theresa of Dousman, WI and John Henry Speckin and his wife Kim of Sussex, WI; a sister: Julie Estabrook of Hastings, MN; thirteen loving grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Gloria Ebner a brother, Richard Geiger and a son, Ward Mitchell Speckin. A Celebration of Life at the Plantation Manor will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM with the Service starting at 4:30PM. The family has requested that donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice for the Tavares Hospice House Chapel Fund at 2445 Lane Park Road Tavares, FL 32778.
