Edward Anthony Hill

Edward Anthony Hill age 69 passed away Friday, March 7, 2014 at Shands Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to the Leesburg area from Fayetteville, Georgia in 2010. Edward spent his career as a Drill Instructor with the U. S. Army and served in the Vietnam Campaign, Panama, and Germany; and he retired in 1992 after more than 20 years of service at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He will be remembered by those close to him for his love of family, his humor, and as a mentor. He loved the New York Giants and the Knicks and rarely missed a game. He was a member of the Frontier Church in Leesburg, and the African American Heritage Club of the Plantation. His survivors include his wife of 6 years Effie, Son – Tony Hill of Salt Lake City, Utah; Daughters – Monique Hill of Brooklyn, New York; Simone Hill of Nashville, Tennessee; Heavenie Sharon Phillips of Riverdale, Georgia; a Sister – Beverly Hill of Brooklyn, Adopted Brother Edgar (Mary) Morales, of Leesburg, Florida; New York and 16 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild and Special Cousin – Bryan Jacques of Brooklyn, NY. He was pre-deceased by his brother Leonard R. Hill Jr. and his aunt Thurber Reynolds. A service celebrating Edward’s life is planned for 12:00 P. M. Friday, March 21, 2014 at Page-Theus Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Leesburg, Florida with interment and full military honors following at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. All arrangements are under the careful direction of Page-Theus Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
